I serve as the fifth president of Evangel University, a role that I assumed in August 2021. I have significant experience in higher education, serving as chair of the Board of Trustees at Oral Roberts University, Vice President for Student Development at Southeastern University (in Florida), and founder and president of Bridges Christian College.

In addition, I have served as a church planter, pastor, consultant and curriculum writer in Florida, Oklahoma, and Missouri. I have also been a member of the global ministry resource organization Empowered21, where I served as liaison to Spirit-empowered scholars. Prior to coming to Evangel we served as co-pastors of Winston Salem First for 15 years.

I am a graduate of Central Bible College and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary and also hold several degrees including a Doctor of Ministry degree from Biola University.

In my most recent book, Surrendered & Unafraid, I reflect on my family’s journey through our daughter’s terminal cancer diagnosis and chemo treatments and our disappointment with God in not giving us a miracle. “Faith doesn’t always give you what you want, faith is what you need when you don’t get what you want.”
